This three day intensive with Gyre & Gimble’s Co-Artistic Director Finn Caldwell combines three core workshops from our training programme:

Day One: Principles in Performance
An introduction to our core priniciples of puppetry. You will learn to imbue objects with thought, emotion and physicality, explore different puppets and found objects and experiment with the puppeteer/puppet relationship.

Day Two: Working as One
Working as a group to create and maintain characterisation within a single puppet, expanding your awareness in performance using structured play and improvisation, and experimenting with your puppet’s interaction alongside another puppet or human.

Day Three: Devising and Storytelling
An introduction to our rehearsal process. You will create narratives that demand the use of puppetry from a range of stimuli, discover a puppet’s most effective forms of communication and develop your critical eye through performance analysis and peer feedback.
